Retreat FAQ’s

Do I have to be in recovery to attend this retreat?

Not at all, though the events will be geared toward those seeking a healthier and more spiritual way of living.

Do I have to want to be a writer to attend this retreat?

No. We will be having some writing lectures and workshops but they are accessible to everyone no matter their ability.

I’ve never meditated before. Does that matter?

Not at all. Guests will be led through meditations but they are accessible to anyone, no matter their level of experience.

What do I need to bring? Is there a dress code?

This retreat is in Hollywood, a city which barely knows the meaning of the words “dress” and “code” coupled together. Be casual and comfortable though we highly recommend checking the weather before you pack. The venue will be air-conditioned but it’s likely to be hot outside so plan to bring some layers.

Will I have my own bathroom?

Bathrooms are shared but accommodations are both funky and elegant. Think the Jane Hotel in NYC.

Can I bring my spouse or partner?

Hell, yes. The more the merrier, so long as you can all get tickets.

What time do I need to arrive on Friday and what time should I plan to leave on Sunday?

Events begin with the Light Hustler storytelling show in West Hollywood (at Open Space Cafe, 457 N. Fairfax between Beverly and Melrose) at 8 pm. Friday rush hour traffic in Los Angeles can be brutal so to be safe, we recommend planning to arrive early afternoon. You can arrive as early as you’d like on Friday (the accommodations are within walking distance of the Walk of Fame, Mann’s Chinese, Musso & Frank’s, Runyon Canyon and many other hot tourist spots) and check out on Sunday is at 2 pm.

Is food provided?

We will have snacks available throughout and coffee and breakfast both mornings. Food is available at Open Space on Friday night. We will break for lunch on Saturday and have a group dinner on Saturday where guests are responsible for covering the cost of their meals.

I have a hard time focusing for too long. Do I have to attend all the lectures and workshops?

Not at all. In fact, reflexology treatments and tarot card readings will be happening during the event so you will be missing some of the programming.

Reflexology tretaments and tarot card readings! Included in the cost?

For an out-of-town-er, yes. If you’ve purchased a “local” ticket then it is not included in the cost, although you can arrange a session directly with the vendor.

Can I return my ticket if I change my mind?

Alas, no. Tickets are non-refundable.
